About Lantmäteriet – The National Land Survey of Sweden
Lantmäteriet (The National Land Survey) is the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority.
Lantmäteriet´s mission is to manage the Swedish cadastral system, promote the rational subdivision of land, and be responsible for the efficient provision of basic geographic and land information. Lantmäteriet produces databases containing geographic information and maps. The authority also carries out real property formation and provides information about Sweden´s 3.2 million real property units. Lantmäteriet´s clients are in central and local government sectors, in the private sector and the general public. The Defence Authorities, the National Rail Administration, the National Road Administration, the National Environmental Protection Agency and Handelsbanken are The National Land Survey´s major clients.

With Nordic Edge™ Certificate Services Lantmäteriet now has a central solution that provides secure login and signing certificates for e-services. Certificate Services will also be used in the case management system.
The Challenge
Lantmäteriet needed an effective solution for secure user identification and signature for their e-services. These e-services enable businesses, governments and especially citizens to find information on all Swedish property directly via the Internet.
The Solution
Lantmäteriet chose Nordic Edge™ Certificate Services, that uses e-identification to ensure the identity of the user. Digital identification is based on certificates from all of the regular providers. Most of the internal smart cards that companies use are supported in the basic product. Examples of certificates that are supported include BankID (Finansiell IDTeknik AB), Telia/SEB hard and soft certificates, Nordea Softcert and all soft X.509-certificates. Nordic Edge Certificate Services is a solution that integrates easily with existing security infrastructure (such as CA SiteMinder and Novell Access Manager).
The Result
The Swedish mapping authority now has a central solution that provides secure login and signing of certificates to e-services so users can access detailed information on real estate, and submit applications for property registration. Nordic Edge™ Certificate Services will also be used in the case management system – a service which allows users to follow their application, for example parcelling of land.
