In the OTP Server, all authentication methods can be enabled at the same time. The policy will either enforce users to use a specific method, or give users a choice between different authentication methods.
The policy can be set per user, per LDAP group, per domain or per any attribute in the database. This is a very useful feature since it allows customers to use different authentication methods for different users. It is also used when setting up emergency backup routines to allow users who lose their primary authentication device (e.g. the phone) to still log in.
It can also require a PIN along with the One Time Password to further enhance the security.

The product supports most protocols for communicating with any SMS operator in the market (http/https, SMPP, SMTP, CIMD2, etc).
Nordic Edge also provides an optional SMS Service where the OTP Server requests SMS’s to be sent out via the Internet. Each request for an SMS is kept in a queue until a clear-message is received from the SMS operator. Should the clear-message not arrive, the SMS Service resends the request using another channel.
Nordic Edge offers an SLA for the SMS Service which guarantees the delivery. This means that the customer doesn’t have to worry about a thing when it comes to the security solution; we make sure the SMS service is always up and running.

The OTP Server has extensive support for integration with various databases. Any LDAP (Active Directoy, eDirectory, OpenLDAP, etc), any SQL (OpenSQL, MS-SQL, ODBC, JDBC) is supported.
It is possible to configure the OTP Server to make lookups with multiple databases. This can be because of different organizations/departments or complex calls where, for instance, username/password is looked-up in one database and the mobile phone number is retrieved from another database. It is also possible to mix different types of databases.
The OTP Server does not use an internal database, instead it reuses the existing databases. This means that customers can continue to use the administration tools already in place. We provide you with template database calls to make sure installation and integration with your existing environment is easy, fast and hassle free.
